Janet is a multidisciplinary creative artist, currently working as a performer, teacher, coach and consultant. Her passion for artistry, authenticity, teaching and coaching have been the guiding principles of her work. She has over twenty-five years experience as a professional vocal artist and singing teacher and has been teaching yoga since 2012. She enjoys helping others identify and understand their most pressing challenges and find a creative, joyful and fulfilling path forward.
Janet Catherine Dea has over twenty-five years national and international experience as a professional singer/actor in opera, operetta, music-theatre, pops and jazz standards. She has appeared with the Canadian Opera Company, Edmonton Opera, Manitoba Opera, Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra and many others. Highlights include operatic roles Violetta, Mimi, Lucia and Thais; and orchestral works Beethoven IX, Mahler IV and Britten’s Les Illuminations de Rimbaud, and Pops programmes.
Janet has taught and adjudicated studio voice at college and university (Grant McEwan, Edmonton; McGill, Montreal) as well as at her own voice studio in Toronto. Her current and former students include aspiring and working professional singer/actors and those who study just for fun. She holds a BA from Yale and MMus from McGill.
Janet has been practicing yoga for twenty years and completed her yoga teacher training at YogaSpace in Toronto under the mentorship Patricia White--with whom she continues to study. As a professional opera performer and voice technique teacher, she brings over twenty-five years of teaching body awareness, alignment and effective breathing techniques to the yoga studio.

Seniors Singing For Joy
Join Janet as she leads a weekly singing class for seniors who sing just for the sheer joy of it! All are welcome. You do not need to have any singing experience, just a willingness to join in and have fun with your voice. We sing many styles of music, pop, standards, Broadway even a wee bit of classical.
