Toronto, ON -- May 1, 2006 -- Muzent Productions continues its vocal chamber music series in the intimate setting of Heliconian Hall with Ain’t it a Pretty Night: Vocal Music for a Summer Evening with distinguished Canadian artists.  Janet Catherine Dea, soprano, continues to delight audiences both here and abroad with her luscious voice and sparkling stage presence.  Brahm Goldhamer, piano, is regarded as one of Canada’s most respected vocal accompanists and coaches.  Dea and Goldhamer will be joined by exciting young Canadian instrumentalists Iris Krizmanic, French horn and Kristen Moss Theriault, harp.

The eclectic program opens with Donna Anna’s evocative aria Non mi dir from Mozart’s Don Giovanni, following by a selection of ‘night’ themed lieder by Richard Strauss.  Iris Krizmanic, joins Dea and Goldhamer on the seldom heard Auf dem Strom (for voice, horn and piano) by Franz Schubert.  The all English second half features folksongs and folk-inspired opera.  Audiences will delight in Ain’t it a Pretty Night from Carlisle Floyd’s Susannah, and the classic Summertime from Gershwin’s beloved Porgy and Bess.  To round out the program, rising harpist, Kristen Moss Theriault, and Janet Catherine Dea perform a selection of folksongs from the British Isles arranged for voice and harp.

Muzent Productions in its third season, is dedicated to the production and public performance of classic vocal concerts.  Artistic Director, Janet Catherine Dea commented:
“Our goals include promotion and support of rising and established Toronto artists with an emphasis on vocal chamber music.  We believe strongly in the entertainment and cultural value of live performance, and our programs are reasonably priced, accessible and fun.”
